This is the next main station along the line from Tryfan Junction and opened in August 2000 when the section from Dinas to here opened. Some of the flower beds were originally looked after by Antur Waunfawr, a charity offering employment and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities, however, it eventually came under the care of the Joint Landscaping Group until the Autumn of 2015.
The station consists of an island platform with a high level footbridge linking it to the car park and pub on one side of the railway and some camping fields and the campsite’s toilet block on the other. There are a number of flower beds in the island platform as seen below together with a station building.
Until recently Waunfawr had been looked after by Howard Stuckey doing the various maintenance jobs need such as the annual pressure washing of the steps and walkway of the station footbridge. Unfortunately he's unable to give it the care and attention needed, and with this being a very high profile station, it is currently in urgent need of an individual or group to care for it.
