The project aims to maintain the railway's stations and buildings.
It is based around the Society's 'Adopt a Station' initiative and the group involved will be working closely with the Joint Landscaping Group.
Stations and Buildings
There are seven operational stations on the railway together with a further six halts. As the railway was rebuilt there were only sufficient resources to open basic facilities at most of these stops and so the Society is fully involved in the provision of enhanced facilities where appropriate.
This help has taken
place in several forms. The first was the construction and
waiting shelters such as those at Snowdon Ranger and Meillionen, and at
Waunfawr the Society helped with the provision of a pair of station
A fundraising exercise took place during the winter of 2009/10 that subsequently enabled the the Nantmor halt to be completed in spring to early summer 2010. This was timed to coincide with the reopening to Pont Croesor on Wednesday 26th May 2010. The picture here shows the first train to Pont Croesor calling at Nantmor Halt for the opening ceremony.
"Adopt a Station"
Existing groups or ad hoc groups of individuals adopt a particular station and look after it as required, giving that extra bit of tender loving care which makes it much more pleasing and presentable to the travelling public. Anyone intersted in particpating should contact Neil McMaster - see list of contact details for Society Officers
